First Water has appointed three new specialists to key roles as the company continues its growth and development.
Sigurður Óli Sigurðarson has joined First Water as a Finance Specialist. He will work on business development, financial planning, investor presentations and other finance-related projects. Sigurður holds a B.Sc. in Business from Coastal Carolina University and an M.Sc. in Investment Management from Reykjavik University. He previously worked at PwC Iceland and Landsbankinn.
Vilborg Magnúsdóttir has been appointed Safety Manager. She will be responsible for safety, prevention and projects related to the development of First Water’s land-based aquaculture facility in Þorlákshöfn. Vilborg holds a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Iceland, with a focus on behavior-based safety and behavior-based management. She has also completed studies at the Icelandic National Police College.
Vilborg brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served as Safety and Quality Manager for domestic airports at Isavia. She has also worked as a detective, as well as at Sjóvá and Kynnisferðir.
Sigmar Örn Sigþórsson has been appointed Technical Manager in Processing. In this role, he will oversee technical equipment and practical operations across the company’s production and processing systems.
Sigmar is a marine engineer from the Icelandic College of Marine Engineering and holds deck officer qualifications from the Reykjavík College of Navigation. He has also completed APME project management studies at Reykjavik University. He spent several years at HS Orka as a power plant engineer and systems manager, and has also worked at the National Power Company Landsvirkjun and Orka náttúrunnar power company.
